Lead Energy Manager

Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Lead Energy Manager to work with high‑profile clients to develop and deliver ambitious environmental targets across UK-wide property portfolios.

This role offers the opportunity to take a hands-on position in driving energy savings and delivering energy-related services at scale, supporting clients with their energy, utilities and decarbonisation objectives.

Operating on a national basis, the Lead Energy Manager will align delivery activities to client targets, manage a small team of Energy Managers and work as part of a wider on‑contract sustainability team. The role focuses on ensuring contractual commitments are met, continuously improved and supported through robust energy management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective management of energy resources to meet client and contractual objectives and targets.
  • Develop and embed ways of working that evidence and deliver energy management activity across client portfolios.
  • Identify, develop and support the implementation of energy and water efficiency opportunities.
  • Support the growth of energy performance contracts within identified key accounts.
  • Deliver all energy-related tasks to ensure service provision and compliance requirements are met.
  • Inform, motivate and train colleagues and client organisations in good energy and water management practices.
  • Develop and implement strategic briefs, design guides and standards aligned to customer objectives.
  • Complete benchmarking activities and undertake energy surveys across a range of premises, including offices, manufacturing and retail sites.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in energy management or a similar engineering or technical profession.
  • Strong knowledge of techniques and technologies that support efficient energy use.
  • Understanding of opportunities to improve water efficiency and reduce consumption.
  • Accreditation with a relevant industry body (e.g. CIBSE, EI, ASHRAE).
  • Demonstrable track record within an energy or technical environment.
  • Competence in energy and utility benchmarking techniques and statistical analysis.
  • Understanding of energy metering principles to ensure high-quality data and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel to various client sites nationwide.
